Randy Nelson's Business Check Up Learning Workshop

  • Motorco 723 Rigsbee Avenue Durham, NC, 27701 United States (map)

It is time to learn from “The Triangle’s Yoda”!

“Over my fifty-year business career, there are few thought leaders who bring forth a business idea that is profound and will reshape the way we think. Peter Drucker, Dale Carnegie, Napoleon Hill, Jim Collins, Michael Gerber, Patrick Lencioni, Malcom Gladwell, and Simon Sinek come to mind. I believe Randy Nelson’s concepts of The Decision Series for Entrepreneurs® are in this illustrious list.”

Tony Hutti - CEO – Executive Forums

We all (hopefully) schedule and go to our annual/semi-annual medical preventive checkups such as our yearly physical and our dental screening. At age 50, we know that we should get a Colonoscopy and for men and women, we each have our respective exams for breast and prostate cancer, ideally identifying potential problems before they become major issues.

But what about your business? When did you have a checkup last on the health of your business, and not just on the outside (revenue and profits), but also on the inside, including your leadership of the business? Your Leading Indicators? When was the last time you had a checkup on your overall entrepreneurial career, including how well you are blending work and life, while scaling your entrepreneurial dreams? What would moving from successful to maximized look like in your business?

Now you can get that checkup, at Randy’s EO learning event on April 9th. Randy Nelson is a Diamond level Strategic Partner for EO Raleigh-Durham. He is also a founding member of our chapter in 1998 and was an active EO member for 20 years. His company, Gold Dolphins LLC, coaches, mentors and advises entrepreneurial leaders as they scale their life and business.

Randy’s companies (that he founded and built) have produced over 1 billion in sales and remain market leaders today. He attended many of the premier EO learning events such as Birthing of Giants (now called EMP) and London Business School, as well as numerous EO universities around the world. He has studied under Verne Harnish and Dan Sullivan, two of the greatest entrepreneurial thought leaders in the world, and many other thought leaders over the past 30 years. Randy has also been a member of Vistage for 15 years and was recently awarded the lifetime achievement award in the Triangle area. He is the best- selling author of The Decision Series for Entrepreneurs®, including #1 best sellers- The Second Decision and The Third Decision and has become a highly respected thought leader and public speaker in the entrepreneurial space over the past decade. Randy built his businesses while raising 6 children with his wife Kristi. They live in Clayton, NC and now have 6 grandchildren, ages 1 ½-9.These are just a few of the reasons Randy’s peers nicknamed him “The Triangle’s Yoda” many years ago.

This event will be limited to 25 participants, due to the customized nature of the learning that day. Each participant will walk away with their own checkup results.

If you are interested in attending, be one of the first 25 people to register. To register, you will need to answer the 6 questions below prior to the workshop. Randy will utilize your answers to develop a customized workshop that will benefit the group as a whole, as well as focused learning for each individual participant (6 individual answers). Each participant will be asked to bring their current written strategy for their business(es).

The event will be held at Motorco's patio attached to their restaurant Parts & Labor. Join us for a lunch social immediately following Randy's event!

  1. You have been fired. Your successor has been wildly successful over the next 12 months taking decisive action in areas that you didn’t know what to do, chose not to do them, or didn’t know how to do them. What are the three major changes/decisions that they made?

  2. What do you need to say NO to in your business, so that you focus on fewer things (Steve Jobs taught us this – he shut down every project except for 4 when he came back to Apple)? The critical component of your answer is that you can make money at the things you decide to say no to, which means it will hurt a bit to say no.

  3. You have started multiple businesses and may plan on starting more – what % of your organizations’ potential in each of those businesses are you reaching today?

  4. Who do you need to complement yourself with to allow your organization to reach its full potential in the next 3 years…if you have multiple businesses answer for each? List titles of the people you need to hire.

  5. How many days can you fully take off from work and still 10X your business in the coming years? What is the maximum number?

  6. What is non-negotiable in your personal life in the next 12 months – what is off-limits for discussion, something you will not be willing to compromise in? List two.
